My name is Irina Goldman, and I didn't begin as a graphic designer.

I started off as a professional dancer. After performing for many companies in Chicago, I found there was a need for stronger promotion of small dance companies. I hopped in as both a dancer and designer and quickly fell in love with graphic design and how thoughtful composition affects perspective. I dove in headfirst into design studies and found that my training as a dancer opened up an even deeper appreciation for design. Using empathy, tone, and dynamic composition as guideposts, I found that my former career uniquely informs my current work. Now I work as a full-time designer, but I still bring that background with me in every design choice I make.

I'm also passionate about community building. You may catch me around Chicago working as President of AIGA Chicago. I hope to break down barriers to entry and provide access to the beautiful, diverse communities of Chicago together with art and design.
